…a company of nine multi-talented actor/musicians clad in colourful dungarees on designer Katie Lias' set crammed with inviting instruments… The description ‘semi-staged' short-changes this joyous action-packed show. Performers move from one fantastical location to another and morph into various real and imaginary beasts with winning verve

Credit is also due to the costume designer and choreographer, who avoid putting the actors in full “animal” costumes in favour of focusing on specific movements and costume accents that instead capture the essence of each creature

The environmental messages conveyed by the thrifty pre-loved set, designed by Katie Lias, take inspiration from her previous production design for As You Like It, using props, headwear and other costume additions to deftly illustrate the idiosyncrasies of characters and places. The elephants have skullcaps with flappy ears, the Jaguar and Leopard fashion animal print ties and the Kolokolo Bird’s fuchsia pink fascinator all give perfect representations with minimal effort but maximum effect.

Dressed in different coloured dungarees, with costumes designed by Katie Lias, they cleverly reflect the various animals characters and the imaginative set using large illustrations as if from a picture book to suggest 'The Jungle' or ‘The Veldt' worked well.
