A fresh and richly coloured take on a timeless classic

- The Stage

Designer Katie Lias transforms The Watermill into Capulet's, a disreputable, stick-floored bar with audience seating on four sides, moodily lit by Tom White, setting, the tone for the evening

- WhatsOnStage

It's all most atmospheric - indeed, the only thing designer Katie Lias isn't able to include is the trademark smell of stale beer mixed with industrial strength disinfectant

- The Oxford Times

This production is further proof that The Watermill puts creativity first...the effort put in to this interpretation of Romeo and Juliet is commendable"

- The Reviews Hub

A fresh and vivacious interpretation...filled with magic moments and will certainly be a hit

- British Theatre Guide

Ever-changing lighting, re-purposing costume pieces and frequently moving set pieces left the stage effortlessly transformed and showcased a great deal of thought about how they would convey the famous narrative.
